Is it possible to adjust the synopsis in the seach results?
If I understand correctly the synopsis is formed by the description of
the asset, but if there is no description it will show the title,
menutitle, url and keywords. Sometimes that creates a not very usefull text.
I would rather show the description when it is there and show nothing
when there is none. Is that possible? Or are there more variables
available in the result set loop with which I can create a custom
synopsis?
Thanks a lot
bye, marieken

Yes, you can adjust it by entering in the information you want into the Synopsis field on the Metadata tab for the asset.

Yeah, I've posted a patch to improve the default synopsis which I believe was accepted for 7.6.

Not to that extent. The only template variables you have available in the search loop are asset id, name, url and synopsis. I'd suggest adding an RFE to allow the description to be available in the search results template.

Hi William,
Thanks for your reply. I remember your interesting presentation about
the search in Madison.
I have more then 50 assets (SQL reports), so i'm trying to avoid having
to changes them all by hand by filling in the Synopsis field. That's why
i want to changes it in the serach template.
Do you know if it is possible to change the composition of the synopsis
in the config file just for one website? In that way I could ask to
leave the title and the menutitle out. Or only show the keywords,
because that is the metadata attachted to that asset, right? I would be
happy with only the metadata too.
Greeting, Marieken

Hey Marieken,
It sounds like you're going to have to get Arjan to write some custom code to either iterate over all of the assets and push the description into the synopsis OR modify the WebGUI::Asset::Wobject::Search module to include the description or keywords into the %vars hash in the view() method.
Good luck, William
